BSS, Chittagong :
Students and teachers of Chittagong University (CU) today bade farewell to the outgoing Bengali year by wearing black badges in protest against defacing of the wall painting on the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA).
A group of miscreants poured Mobil on the wall paintings done by CU IFA at city’s Badsha Mia Road on Tuesday night, hours before celebrations of Pahela Baishakh programmes.
The incident sparked huge protest and deportation from all sections of the society including literary and cultural arena across the country.
Students and teachers of CU brought out a colourful rally led by CU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury from the IFA premises bidding farewell to the outgoing Bengali year this afternoon.
The VC in his brief speech on a pre-rally gathering said the forces of darkness attacked nakedly in the dark as they did not cherish the values of Bengali culture and tradition. “We must remain united to annihilate the forces and lit the light”, he urged.
The rally was largely participated by students and teachers of CU, CU Pro-VC Dr Shirin Akther Chowdhury, IFA Director Prof Shayela Sharmin and CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury,
