



UNB, Dhaka :Five people, including two teenage boys, were killed and nine others injured in lightning strike in Satkhira, Tangail and Meherpur districts on Saturday.In Satkhira, a farmer was killed being struck by lightning at Umrapara village in Sadar upazila at noon. The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 43, son of Jabbar Dali of the village.Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Inamul Hoque said a thunderbolt hit Sattar while harvesting paddy in field at noon, leaving him dead on the spot.In Tangail, two teenage boys were killed while two others injured in lightning strike in Gopalpur upazila in the afternoon. The deceased were identified as Alam Miah, 15, son of Abdul Majid of Goalpocha village and Mohammad Selim, 15 of Baliadanga village in the upazila.Locals said lightning struck the four boys around 3 pm while playing football, leaving them critically injured. Selim and Alam died on way to hospital. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.In Meherpur, two people were killed and seven others injured by lightning in Sadar upazila at noon.The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 45, a farmer of Fatehpur village, and transport worker Montu Miah, 25, of Bamonpara village in the upazila while the injured are Ansarul, 40, Shafiqul Islam, 45, Anisur, 30, Shahidul, 32, Hedayet, 45, Asadul, 30, Tanjel, 40, and Rezaul, 35.
