



Two madrasa students drowned while bathing in the Jamuna River in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj on Thursday (June 25).
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the No. Boat Ghat area. The tragic deaths have cast a shadow of grief over the victims’ families and the local community.
The deceased were identified as Junayet Hossain, 13, son of Jahangir Alam of Halidapara (Bhadrashimul) in Bhuapur upazila of Tangail, and Ariful Islam, 11, son of Abdul Halim of the Chinar Katenga Char area in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Another student, Hasibullah, 13, son of Rashedul Islam of Jamira village in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur, was rescued alive.
All three students were studying at Jajira Madinatul Uloom Qawmiya and Hafizia Madrasa in Nischintapur Union of Kazipur upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Kazipur Police Station, M. Mostafizur Rahman, said that the three madrasa students had gone to the river to take a bath.
One of them managed to return safely to the riverbank, but the other two were swept away and drowned.
Local fishermen later cast nets into the river and recovered the bodies at around noon.
Upon receiving the information, members of the Natuarpara Police Outpost and the River Police visited the scene.
