$701.62m remittance received in first 20 days of Jan

Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent US $701.62 million remittance during the first 20 days of the current month.
In the first six days, the country has received $219.80 million, but the inflow of remittance has been increased between 7 and 13 January, reaching $271.37 million, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank.
The data also showed that the expatriate Bangladeshis have used more private banking channels for sending $488.49 million remittance during the period.
Six state-owned commercial banks- Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, Basic and BDBL-received $198.80 million while one state-owned specialized bank- Bangladesh Krishi Bank- $7.23 million.
On the other hand, they have sent only $7.10 million through foreign commercial banks.
Among the private commercial banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) received the highest amount of remittance of $158.53 million while Dutch-Bangla Bank $27.85 million.
The other top six private banks are National Bank Limited ($26.70m), Pubali Bank ($25.65m), South East Bank ($23.89m), Uttara ($23.54m), Bank Asia ($18.64m) and Prime Bank ($17.13m).
