Schools taking extra money from SSC examinees

The guardians of SSC examinees are suffering a lot due to payment of 2/3 times more money as fees for filling up the forms for 2017 in Chittagong. The district administration took steps in this regard last year.
The then Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Mejbah Uddin directed at that time not to take extra fees in 2016. Despite the direction of the then DC of Chittagong, many schools took more money as fees for filling up the forms of SSC last year. But, the DC issued notice after holding the meetings with the headmasters and school authorities to return back the extra money which was taken by the schools from the students as fees.
However, at that time, the school authorities had been compelled to return back the extra money. But, this year, authorities of many schools in Chittagong are allegedly taking 2/3 times more money as fees for filling up the forms of SSC exam. The said schools are taking additional money by violating the government rules. Sources said, the authorities of many schools in Chittagong are allegedly demanding development fees, center fees, coaching fees etc for taking extra money as fees. Chittagong Education Board fixed up fees at taka 1695 for regular students and taka 1795 for irregular students for the students of humanities and business administration. Besides, they fixed taka 1795 fee for regular students while taka 1895 for irregular students for the students of science.
But, violating the circular of the Chittagong Education Board, many schools including Eden Child School, Forest Research Department School, Jamijuri School, BAF Shaheen School, Bangladesh Navy School, Holly Child School, Uttar Kattoli Jaman Anwar School, Khan Shaheb Abdul Hakim School, Saint Scholastic School, Saradiner School, Pahartoli Eden School, Bakolia School, Sanwara Boys School, Mohammed Nagar High School, City Pilot School, Mostafa Hakim High School, Khan Shaheb High School, Northern School, Municipal Model High School, Uttar Kattoli Nurul Haq Chowdhury School, Mohora Ispahani School, South Point School, Katirhat High School, Potia Kushumpura High School, Karnaphuli Asia Motaleb High School, Char Lakhya High School and Burishchar Sommiloni High School etc are taking additional money as fees.
Hundreds of guardians of those schools are alleging that despite the government-fixed fees for filling up the forms of SSC in 2017, the authorities of the schools are taking additional taka by the name of fees. Controller of Examination of Chittagong Education Board Mahabub Hasan said, “We will investigate into the matters and take action against the schools taking additional money. Guardians of SSC examinees formed human chain and held several programs demanding to take actual fees. They called upon the education minister to take action in this regard. They also called upon the DC of Chittagong to take action for the same.
