



Former city Mayor and advisor to the BNP chairperson Manzoor Alam backs in Awami league politics expressing allegiance to the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman . Expressing his views in joining the AL said his father was involved with the politics of AL since his life tenure and he was elected three times as councilor with AL ticket. But following the misunderstanding with the party leaders before the city corporation election of 2010, he joined the BNP and elected Mayor with BNP ticket.
Mentionable that on election day of last mayor’s election, he resigned from BNP politics on April 28 , 2015 and again joined with the activities and ideals of Bangabandhu.
In the meantime, Manzoor formed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilunessa Memorial Foundation . Under the banner of the said foundation, he observed the 41 st Martyrdom anniversary of Bangabhandhu at his city residence in North Kattali in city on Monday morning.
In observance of the day, Quoran Khani, doa mahfil,milad and discussion meeting were held with Manzoor Alam in the chair. Rich foods and clothes were also distributed among the destitute in the programmes.
Nephew of Manzoor Alam and ruling party Legislator Md.Didarul Alam graced the occasion of Mourning Day as chief guest.
Among others, President of Akbar Shah Thana AL Sultan Chairman, General Secretary Kazi Altaf, Vice Chairman of Sitakunda Upazila AL Alauddin Sabery, General Secretary of Upazila AL Abdullah al Baker were present on the occasion, a sources said.
Ex-Mayor disclosed in the discussion meeting that Begum Fazilutennessa death anniversary will be observed under the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilunessa Memorial Foundation from next year.
He hoped that the next generations will addict with the ideals of Bangabandhu.
