Transport strike in Ctg Port creates heavy traffic jam

Traffic congestions create unbearable sufferings to port act ivities from Tuesday evening to morning yesterday.
Following the of the unwanted strike of the prlime movers and trailors sramik union, entire port sheds and outside the port connecting roads experienced heavy traffic jam on Tuesday.
The strike begins from 1 pm on Tuesday which withdrawn from 5 pm fllowing the assurances of the port authority to provide parking arrangement of the prime movers and trailors and immediate release of drivers and their helpers those were arrested by the port mobile court led by Magistrate Rokeya Parveen on Tuesday morning. General Secretary of Prime Movers and Trailors Sramik Union Humayun Kabir told that following the asassurance of the port authority, they suspend their strike .
While contacted Director (Security) Lt, Col.Abdul Gaffar told that they will sit with the sramik union leaders on June 8 next to resolve the matter. Mentionable that port mobile court rounded up 12 drivers- helpers for alleged haphazard parking of the transports on Tuesday morning and protesting the arrests of the drivers, helpers, all port gates declared closedby the protesters and hence, severe congestions created. Fo llowing the assurance of the port authority, the strike suspended from 5 pm after 4 hours, sources said.
