Mosaddek stars as Abahani win last ball thriller in DPL

Mosaddek Hossain’s match-winning half century helped Abahani Limited to record an exciting three-wicket victory over Prime Doleshawar sporting Club in the rain-interrupted curtailed over match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Saturday at BKSP ground in Savar.
Early morning rain forced the match to a 28-overs contest.
Chasing a winning target of 192 runs set by Doleshwar, Abahani Limited reached the cherished target scoring 194 runs in the very last delivery of the match with three wickets in hand. Abahani needed 11 runs in the last over.
The first three ball saw Abahani scored one run and lost a wicket. Mosaddeck was stranded at the other end he got the strike Mohammaed Shahzada was skied a Farhad Reza’s third delivery of the over. Shahzada was out but Mosaddek got the strike, he scored 2, 6, and 4 in the remaining deliveries to seal the fate of the match.
Thanks to Mosaddek for his brave fighting knock of 57 runs off 35 balls knock when things look beyond Abahani reach. Earlier in the Abahani innings Shakib Al Hasan (45) and Nazmul Hossain Shanto (39) gave a glimmer of hope with their 74 runs for the third wicket stand.
Mosaddek’s unbeaten half century contained seven delightful boundaries and two towering sixer. He was later named the player of the match for his match-winning knock. Al-Amin Hossain and Farhad Reza shared two wicket apiece conceding 36 and 45 runs respectively while Al Menaria and Nasir Hossain took one wicket each.
Earlier, Prime Doleshwar’s rode on Nasir Hossain’s breezy half century, managed to score competitive total of 191 for 7 in 28 overs in the rain-hit curtail over match, after they were invited to bat first by Abahani Limited’s captain Tamim Iqbal.
Prime DSC were struggling at 3-35 inside six overs, but a whirlwind 72 from 56 balls captain knock by Nasir Hossain lifted his team to a challenging total. This is also Nasir’s second highest knock in DPL contained four fours and two sixes.
Sunzamul Islam contributed to Prime DSC’s cause with run-a-ball 40 runs late in the innings. Taskin Ahmed of Abahani grabbed two wickets but conceded 53 runs in six costly overs.
Shakib Al Hasan coming back from IPL also playing for Abahani after a six-year hiatus could not impress the Doleshwar’s batsmen as he had to remain satisfied with only one wicket in this match. Saqlain and Mosaddek also grabbed one wicket each.
