Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmud on Thursday said effective measures will have to be taken to curb corruption and to expedite the economic development in the country.”We will not excuse even a single corrupt person who plunges into the public money and private banks in the country,” he said.
The ACC chairman said this while distributing prizes among the best performers of different Corruption Prevention Committees (CPC) in Chittagong Division held at circuit house on Thursday.
Underscoring the movement against corruption Iqbal Mahmud said there is no exemption of corrupted persons who are plundering public money from the banks and a united effort is needed to eliminate corruption from the country.
He said ACC has declared battle against corruption and corrupted persons along with country’s people.
“The battle of ACC is against those who misappropriate the public money and their interests,” he said adding that it’s not possible to eliminate corruption from the country without the participation of people from all walks of life. He urged all to forge a social movement through raising public awareness about corruption.
Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin presided over the function while Director General of ACC Dr Md Shamsul Arefin, Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong, Ruhul Amin, Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Iqbal Bahar, Social Science Faculty Dean of Chittagong University Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain, among others, addressed on the occasion.
Later, the ACC Chairman distributed prizes among the best performers of different CPC including Banskhali Upazila , Koshba, Chokoria and Comilla committees.
