On Thursday, Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate sent Dr Samiul Haque Shimul to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a case filed in connection with the death of a patient in his clinic.
Later, medical services at public and private hospitals and clinics in the city came
to a halt as doctors had gone on an indefinite strike on Friday morning protesting the court order sending Shimu, also the owner of a clinic, to jail.
However, the physicians postponed their strike until Sunday as the administration assured them of realising the arrested physician.
