DMP files 1,696 cases for traffic violations
The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,696 cases against motor vehicles for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.
A media release of the DMP on Wednesday said that they filed those cases and realized the money on Tuesday (June 9) through their regular drives against the traffic rule breakers, reports BSS.
A total of 467 motor vehicles were dumped and 330 were towed due to poor driving practices, said NM Nasiruddin, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of the DMP.
Among the cases, Ramna division filed 83 while Lalbagh division registered 140, Motijheel traffic division filed 435, Wari division registered 239, Tejgaon division filed 155, Mirpur division filed 334, Uttara division registered 90 and Gulshan division filed 220 cases against motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, the release added.
“The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets,” it said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
