PM condemns Lahore terror attack
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack in Lahore on Sunday as she sent a condolence message to Pakistan Premier Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
“We strongly condemn the cowardly incident…at this moment of grief, we firmly stand beside you in your fight against terrorism,” Sheikh Hasina said in the message.
On behalf of the government, the people of Bangladesh and her own behalf, the Premier conveyed deepest condolences to (Nawaz) Sharif and the brotherly people of Pakistan at the loss of a large number of innocent lives in the terrorist attack.
“We pray for the salvation of the departed souls and may the Almighty grant the bereaved families the strength and fortitude to overcome this tragedy,” she said.
At least 70 people-mostly women and children-have been killed at a crowded park in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore in a suicide blast that also wounded more than 300 people, officials said.
