Tk.29.42 cr fund for training of shipbuilding workers

With a view to promote skill training to the shipbuilding workers, Ministry of Finance will assist funding of Tk.29.42 crores in this section.
 In 3-years long training programs, 10 thousand workers will get skill training in this trade.
 In this connection, a deal in between the Association of Export Oriented Shipbuilding Industries of Bangladesh(AEOSIB) and the Ministry of Finance was signed on Saturday afternoon in Chittagong under the crash programme titled Skills for Employment Investment Program(CIP) of the concerned ministry.
 Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Jalaluddin and the General Secretary of AEOSIB Md. Shakawat Hossain signed the deal on respective sides. Sources said this a project of ADB aimed at boosting the skillness of the workers in different s ectors and for the first time this grant was sanctioned for shipbuilding workers through AEOSIB. Under this crash programs, training will be given in welding, fabrication, machinery installation, machine tools operation, piping, electrical & navigation, installation of equipmens, HBAC technology, painting , CAD and CAM and quality control. A total of 10 thousand workers i.e. 2000 unskilled workers in first year, 5500 in second year and 2500 in third year will be t rained, sources said. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Jalal Ahmed was present in the signing ceremony as chief guest.
 Additiional Secretary of the same ministry Abdur Rouf Chowdhury and Presient of Bangladesh Employers Federation Salahuddin Kashem Chowdhury graced the occasion as special guests.
The chief guest in the signing ceremony told that following the training to the shipbuilding workers, the productivity of the shipbuilding sector will go ahead and the speed up the export of ocean going vessels from Bangladesh .
Mentionable that in last 5 years, a number of ocean going vessels exported to Germany, Denmark, Finland, Equador, New Zealand, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique and Pakistan . Through exports of these vessels, Bangaldesh earns about 1,500 crore taka from this sector, sources said.
