46 mayoral candidates, 473 councillors submit nominations

A total of 46 mayoral candidates from different political parties, mostly from Awami League (AL) BNP, JP and also independent candidates submitted their nomination papers on Thursday before the respective returning officers , on last day of the submission of nomination papers to contest the municipality polls slated for December 30.
Election commission office sources said a total of 387 including 86 female reserved councilor candidates of different political parties and independent ones filed candidatures for 10municipalities of Chittagong, districts on the last day of the submission of nomination papers.
Police and regional election commission office sources said submission of nomination papers was held peacefully amidst huge festivity and enthusiasm. No report of untoward incident was so far received from any part of the district, the sources added.
