Tri-nation Cricket: Bangladesh concede 4-wkt defeat to hosts India
Visiting Bangladesh conceded a four-wicket defeat to hosts India in their 3rd match of the Tri-nation Under-19 One-day Cricket Tournament at Jadavpur University Complex in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Bangladesh youth team made a frustrating start after suffering a 82-run defeat against hosts India in the double-league basis competition on Saturday.
But the young Tigers smartly bounced back beating Afghanistan by four wickets in the 2nd match on Sunday.
In the remaining league match, Bangladesh will play Afghanistan again on Wednesday.
In the day’s match, Bangladesh Under-19 side batted first after winning the toss and scored a moderate 222 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs.
Bangladesh captain cum middle order batsman Mehedy Hasan Miraz hammered the match highest 87 runs off 90 balls featuring 10 fours and two sixes, opener Saif Hasan scored 85-ball 33 runs with four fours, lower order Saifuddin added 26-ball 30 runs including three boundaries.
Besides, Saeed Sarker (17), Jaker Ali (16), Joyraz Sheikh (15), were the other notable contributors for Bangladesh.
Washington Sundar claimed two wickets for 25 runs.
Chasing a target of 223 runs, hosts Indian Under-19 team scored the match-winners 223 runs for the loss of six wickets in 48.4 overs, featuring two half centuries by opener RR Pant and Washington.
Opener RR Pant quickfired 26-ball 51 runs hitting nine fours and two sixes while number six Washington Sundar scored a patient 75-ball 50 runs with six boundaries.
Besides, AN Khare (41), Ishan Kishan (24), skipper Virat Singh (21), MK Lomror (19) and MJ Dagar (not out 11) were the other batsmen reaching the double figures.
Skipper Mehedy Hasan Miraj grabbed two wickets for 50 runs while Nazmul Hasan Shanta, Mohammad Saifuddin and Saeed sarker took one wicket each.
