Chittagong Bureau :
The Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday interrogated DIG (Prison) of Chittagong Division Asim Kanti Paul in connection with an allegation of acquiring illegal wealth.
ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Abdus Sobhan questioned him for nearly two hours from about 12 pm at the ACC head office in the capital, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Earlier, the national anti-graft body received an allegation that Asim Kanti accumulated huge illegal wealth misusing his power after he joined Chittagong Division as the additional director general of police.
Also, it is alleged that he was involved in ‘recruitment trade’ and helped his juniors get promotion by taking bribe from them, according to ACC sources. Taking cognizance of the allegations, the ACC launched a probe against Asim Kanti in 2014.
