Jubo League leader Loyluc Mia, who was injured in a clash between two parties over dominance in Balaganj, Sylhet, has died while undergoing treatment.
He died at a hospital in Dhaka around 10:30 pm on Sunday (May 11).
In this incident, local residents and relatives set fire to the house of rival BNP leader Yunus Mia at midnight.
Balaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Farid Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
Locals said that on Saturday afternoon, a clash broke out between Balaganj Sadar Union Jubo League President Loyalush Mia and Upazila BNP leader Yunus Ali Paksha, who were injured in a clash over dominance and local influence over boarding a boat in Balaganj Upazila Sadar. Loyalush Mia and several others were injured in the clash. Loyalush Mia was later transferred to Dhaka in critical condition. The situation became heated when news of his death reached the area.
On Sunday (May 11) night, relatives of the Jubo League leader set fire to the house of BNP leader Yunus Mia. Locals said that a part of the house was burnt down. Police have been deployed at the scene to control the situation.
Balaganj Police Station OC Md. Upon receiving the news of the Jubo League leader’s death, locals and his relatives are setting fire to the BNP leader’s house. Police have been deployed at the scene to avoid any untoward situation.
