Zubaida wishes safe country for all women

Zubaida Rahman has expressed hope that Bangladesh will become a safe country for all women and girls. She shared her expectations for Bangladesh while speaking at a discussion marking International Women’s Day at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday morning.

Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, said: “There is a widely quoted statement by the United Nations when women move forward, the nation moves forward.”

“Insha’Allah, Bangladesh will also become a country where every woman and girl is safe, dignified, and entitled to a bright and promising future.”

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Zubaida Rahman extended greetings and congratulations to all women across the country.

Paying tribute to former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, she said: “Today, with a heavy heart, I remember Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and the uncompromising leader of multi-party democracy, Begum Khaleda Zia.

Begum Khaleda Zia, a pioneering figure of democracy, remained steadfast and uncompromising despite numerous injustices and persecutions. Her memory is eternal and indelible.”

“Her life offers an important lesson the strength of a woman lies in her determination, and the power of leadership lies in courage.

Her heart always awakened for the oppressed and deprived people of the country.

Her thunderous voice was always raised against autocracy and exploitation. She is a mother, a fighter, and a symbol of justice.

She remains a source of inspiration for our journey and a guiding light for democracy.”

The event was organised by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to confer the “Best Indomitable Women Award” in observance of International Women’s Day.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin attended the programme as the chief guest and presented the awards.
