After the fall of the government in the face of the anti-discrimination movement on August 5, Ishwardi Upazila Parishad Chairman Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar and Municipal Mayor Ishak Ali Malitha, along with the panel chairman and mayor, were absent from work without authorization. So many activities of the Upazila Parishad and municipal offices have come to a standstill and public services are being disrupted.
In order to resolve this deadlock, following the notification signed by the local government department secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman on August 14, in the absence of the upazila parishad chairman, the upazila executive officer Subir Kumar Das and the municipal executive officer Zahurul Islam are performing administrative duties in the absence of the municipal mayor.
