Sylhet Bureau:

The two-day International Education Fair officially opened in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon at the Amanullah Convention Center. The event is organized by the Foreign Admission and Career Development Consultants Association of Bangladesh (FACAD-CAB), Sylhet Zone.

Professor Dr. A.M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), inaugurated the fair. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of such events in creating opportunities for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education abroad. He emphasized that studying overseas allows students to experience diverse cultures, which ultimately contributes to the development of Bangladesh upon their return. Dr. Chowdhury also stressed the growing importance of Computer Science and English language skills for succeeding in global education.

He encouraged FACAD-CAB to continue organizing such fairs, urging them to prioritize student welfare over profit when facilitating overseas education opportunities.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Ferdous Alam, President of FACAD-CAB Sylhet Zone. Among the special guests were former Sylhet City Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, District Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Sylhet Md. Joynal Abedin, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce President Maulana Khairul Hossain, Premier Bank Manager Habibur Rahman, and several other dignitaries including representatives from FACAD-CAB’s central and Chittagong zones.

This year’s fair features representatives from over 300 universities and colleges from across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, including institutions from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Malaysia, China, Japan, and South Korea. They will offer insights into course selection, admission procedures, visa processing, and scholarship opportunities.

Additionally, experts from more than 40 leading education consultancy firms in Bangladesh are available to provide personalized advice and guidance to students.
