Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul on Monday said the murder case of Osman Hadi will be tried under the Speedy Trial Tribunal to ensure swift justice.
In a Facebook post in the afternoon, Asif Nazrul stated that the trial would proceed under the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002. Citing Section 10 of the Act, he noted that the trial must be completed within a maximum of 90 days following the submission of the police report.
The announcement came amid growing public demand for prompt justice in the killing of Hadi.
Osman Hadi, a prominent figure of the 2024 July uprising and spokesperson of Inquilab Moncho, was shot a day after the Election Commission announced that the next national election would be held on 12 February.
He was airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of 18 December. His death sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for exemplary punishment of those responsible.
