Eggs stored illegally recovered from Pakundia

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) conducted a drive in Egero-Sindhu Cold Storage in Pakundia of Kishoreganj on Sunday and recovered 28 lakh pieces of eggs stored in the cold storage worth Tk 28 crores.

The operation conducted by DNCRP Assistant Director (AD) Rehdoy Ronjon Bonik. He said the campaign was conducted as per the directives of the Director General (DG) of DNCRP.

On secret information in order to keep the egg market stable. During the operation, it can be seen that the traders of different districts have about 28 lakh pieces of eggs stored in cold storage.

These eggs are stored in cold storage for about twenty days to a month. Talking to Cold Storage Manager Mohammad Altaf Hossain and observing the register book confirmed the truth. Officials said that such egg hoarding activities by traders in various districts are suspected to be dubious and trying to destabilize the market.

District Police, Sanitary Inspector and others dignified officials with the full cooperation. The people who have stored eggs in the campaign are asked to release the eggs within a day.

Otherwise there is a stern warning that action will be taken under the Special Powers Act to destabilize the market. The officials of the institution said that these activities will continue in the public interest, DNCRP added.
