A National Consensus Commission has been formed under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus with the aim to build political consensus on state reforms. It includes the heads of six other commissions as its members.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul on Wednesday made this announcement at a press briefing organised by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing at the city’s Foreign Service Academy.
The adviser outlined the progress of the reform process. He confirmed that in the first phase, four reform commissions submitted their recommendations. In the second phase, discussions will be held with political parties to establish consensus on these reforms. The third phase will focus on the development of necessary laws and policies based on the agreed consensus, followed by the implementation phase.
Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan also addressed the briefing, she said, “Discussions on the reform commissions’ reports with political parties will begin in mid-February. Four reform commissions – out of the 11 – have already submitted reports.
“However, some recommendations require revisions due to repetitive content, and the commission heads have requested an extension until January 31 to finalise them. If the final recommendations are ready earlier, discussions with political parties may begin in the first week of February.”
