Retired Indian army officer Colonel (Retd) Ajay K. Raina has threatened in social media ‘X’ message that after Osman Hadi, the next “target” will be NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah.
The former Indian army officer’s remark sparked intense criticism and concern on social media.
In the tweet, he categorically claimed that Hasnat will be shot at neck. Colonel (Retd) Raina is known as a security analyst and the author of nearly 30 books.
The controversy deepened further when, in the same post, he specified where the shooting should be carried out, stating, “The shot should be fired at the neck, not the head. First, he must be silenced.
And even the smallest mistakes will be corrected.” This statement triggered widespread reactions across social media.
After the post was published on X (formerly Twitter), several influential media handlers in Bangladesh described it as a direct death threat against political figures of the country.
Some also raised questions about a possible connection between the statement and the recent attack on Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha.
Despite the controversy, Colonel (Retd) Ajay K. Raina later did not provide any formal explanation on the matter.
In a response to a media outlet, he dismissed the issue, saying there was no need to be overly sensitive about social media posts.
At the same time, he commented that Bangladesh should not overreact to Indian security issues, as doing so could further inflame the situation instead of calming it down.
