Life sentence accused arrested in drug case

Rab has arrested a life sentence accused in a drug case named Aslam Mia (50) in Chauddagram, Cumilla. Aslam Mia is the son of the late Nuru Mia of Satgharia village in Jagannathdighi union of the upazila. Major Sadman Ibne Alam, commander of RAB-11 CPC-2 Cumilla, confirmed the information on Tuesday afternoon.

According to local sources, Aslam Mia had been smuggling drugs from his home area of Satgharia, bordering India, to nearby Feni, Noakhali and Chittagong for many years. In the meantime, the court had sentenced him to life in a drug case.

To avoid punishment, he went into hiding for a long time and stayed in hiding in different places. On Tuesday, a special team of RAB conducted a raid in Satgharia village in Vorara based on secret information and arrested Aslam Mia.

Major Sadman Ibne Alam, commander of RAB-11 Cumilla, said that legal action has been taken against the arrested accused Aslam Mia to enforce the sentence.
