From actress to politician, the ‘Tollywood Queen’ Koel Mallick has now stepped into the political arena.

Trinamool Congress surprised everyone by announcing her as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections.

Throughout her long acting career, Koel Mallick has never been directly involved in politics.

However, she has always been known as a close admirer of the state’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Many believe that Trinamool’s decision to nominate her carries a significant political message.

Following the announcement, mixed reactions have surfaced on social media. Some of Koel’s fans have welcomed her new journey and extended their best wishes.

On the other hand, some have expressed surprise and questioned why an actress who has stayed away from politics for so long is suddenly entering the upper house of Parliament.

It is worth noting that in the 2021 by-elections, Koel Mallick’s husband and producer, Nispal Singh Rane, was a proposer for Mamata Banerjee.

Since then, many have believed that the Mallick family’s ties with Trinamool have been growing closer.
