Child dies of burns

An eight-year-old child named Touhidul Islam died after being burnt to death while sleeping in the incident on Tuesday midnight

The incident took place at Paschim Alinagar village in Deoghar union of Austagram upazila.
The victim’s Touhidul (8) , son of Abdul Majid in Bhatshala village of Austagram upazila. Locals, and Fire Services sources, a fire broke out at the home of farmer Abu Turab in Paschim Alinagar village around midnight due to an electrical short circuit.

The fire spread quickly and Abu Turab’s grandson Touhidul Islam was burnt while sleeping in the next room.
He was rescued and taken to the Ashtagram Upazila Health Complex. The hospital’s Medical Officer( MO) dr. Aminul Islam, said that about 60 percent of the child’s body was burned.

After receiving primary treatment, he was sent to the capital’s Burn Institute. While undergoing treatment there, the child Touhidul Islam died Wednesday. Ashtagram Sadar Union Parishad( UP) Chairman Syed Fayyaz Hasab Babu confirmed the death. Meanwhile, the victims claim that the fire caused a loss of Tk 1 million.
