Dhaka-Male flight: Maldives national airline to resume from March 12

Business Desk :

Maldivian, the national flag carrier of the Maldives, has signed an agreement with its general sales agent in Bangladesh, Galaxy Aviation Services, to resume direct Dhaka-Male flights from March 12, reinforcing air connectivity between the two South Asian nations.

According to a press release, Mohamed Ibrahim Iyas, managing director of Maldivian, and Ahmed Yusuf Walid, president and chief executive officer of Galaxy Bangladesh Group, signed the agreement at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday.

Initially, the airline will operate two weekly flights on Sundays and Thursdays. Return fares will start from $399.
Flights are scheduled to land in Dhaka in the early morning, allowing passengers to connect with onward international services.

Passengers will be entitled to a 30-kilogram baggage allowance and complimentary onboard meals. Tickets are available through the airline’s official website, mobile application and call centre.

According to airline authorities, the service has been relaunched in response to growing demand from Bangladeshi nationals in the Maldives ahead of the post-Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr travel rush.

The resumption of the Dhaka-Male-Dhaka route is expected to boost passenger movement, particularly for Bangladeshi expatriates working in the Maldives, and facilitate smoother bilateral travel.

Ambassador of the Maldives to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed, Director of Ground Operations Ahmed Ibrahim, and General Manager (international commercial) Mohamed Saffah, were present at the signing ceremony.
