Three Bangladeshi journalists to attend international conferences in New Delhi

 

A three-member delegation of senior Bangladeshi journalists is going to participate in a series of South Asian regional conferences to be held in New Delhi, India from February 6 to 8.

The delegation comprises senior leaders of the Bangladesh Chapter of SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) and is led by Shiabur Rahman (Shihab), General Secretary of the SJF Bangladesh Chapter and Head of Online and Multimedia, The Financial Express.

Other members of the delegation include Asif Hasan Nabi, Special Correspondent of The Daily Aajker Probhat and Vice-President of SJF Bangladesh Chapter, and Abdur Rahman, Senior Correspondent of The Bangladesh Post and Central Secretary General of the SAARC Journalist Forum.

During the three-day visit, the delegation will take part in three major events in the Indian capital.

On February 6, the journalists will attend the South Asian Heroes Awards ceremony, scheduled to be held at 6:30 pm at the Opal Ballroom of the five-star Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Delhi. The award ceremony is being organised by the South Asian Region Collaboration Foundation, Sri Lanka, to honour distinguished individuals for their contributions to regional cooperation.

On February 7, the delegation will participate in a Media Conclave titled “Security and Development in South Asia: An Overview through the Lens of Media and Journalism”, to be held at 4:00 pm at the auditorium of Shyam Lal College (Evening), University of Delhi. The conclave is being jointly organised by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the India Chapter of SAARC Journalist Forum.

The visit will culminate on February 8 with the journalists participating in an international conference titled “Role of Journalism in Peace Making and Cooperation in South Asian Countries” on the Bharati Vidyapeeth campus, New Delhi. Members of the Bangladeshi delegation will deliver key speeches at the conference, and an important paper will be presented on behalf of Bangladesh in line with the conference theme.

The visit is expected to contribute to strengthening professional ties among South Asian journalists and to open new avenues for promoting regional peace, cooperation, and people-to-people connectivity through media collaboration.

Following the conference, the delegation will also hold a meeting with the Teachers’ Association of the University of Delhi and visit several renowned historical and cultural landmarks in the Indian capital.
