Hridoy hits ton: Rangpur beat Naoakhali in BPL Cricket

Rangpur Riders beat Noakhali Express by eight wickets in their tenth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Sunday.

Chasing Noakhali’s fighting total of 173 for the loss of two wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Rangpur romped home making 174 for the loss of two wickets when they had just two balls to hand.

Opener Towhid Hridoy of Rangpur Riders led his team from the front line making a superb 109 from 63 deliveries. He hit 15 fours and two sixes before he was bowled out by Hasan Mahmud when Rangpur’s total was 165 for the loss of two wickets.

It is the second century in this year’s ongoing BPL Cricket. Najmul Hossain Shanto of Rajshahi Warriors hit the first century (101*) in the 12th edition of BPL Cricket.

Towhid Hridoy reached the fifty-run landmark using 27 deliveries with nine fours and one sixer. Towhid Hridoy was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.

Rajshahi Warriors confirmed their play-off berth gaining 16 points from 10 matches, while Chattogram Royals reached the play-off berth bagging 12 points from nine matches. Chattoram were set to face Dhaka Capitals in their last league match on Sunday.

Rangpur Riders confirmed their play-off berth grabbing 12 points from 10 matches.
Sylhet Titans also reached the play-off berth earning 10 points from 10 outings.

Earlier, Hassan Eisakhil of Noakhali express remained unbeaten with 107 runs. His 72-ball innings was belted with 11 sixer and four fours. It is the third century in this year’s BPL Cricket.

Rangpur Riders had a solid start with two openers Towhid Hridoy and Dawid Malan put on together 78 runs in the opening stand before Dawid Malan (15) was dismissed by Zahir Khan when Rangpur’s total was 78.

After Dawid Malan’s dismissal, Towhid Hridoy and Litton Das built a worthy partnership scoring together 87 runs in the second wicket stand before Hridoy was dismissed.

Litton Das remained unbeaten with 39 runs. His 35-ball knock had two fours and a sixer.

After Hridoy’s departure. Litton Das and Khushdil Shah helped their side to reach the winning target.

Hasan Mahmud and Zahir Khan got one wicket each conceding 23 and 27 runs respectively.

Noakhali made a good start as their openers Hassan Eisakhil and Rahmat Ali put up 32 runs for the opening stand before Rahmat Ali (9) was caught by Litton Das off Nahid Rana.

After Rahmat Ali’s departure, one-down Jaker Ali (3) was bowled out by Aliss Al Islam when Noakhali’s score was 36 for the loss of two wickets.

Then, Hassan Eisakhil and Haider Ali made a notable partnership scoring together 137 runs in the unbroken third wicket stand before Noakhali’s innings came to an end.

Haider Ali remained unbeaten with 42. His 32-ball knock had three fours and a sixer.
Aliss Al Islam and Nahid Rana took one wicket each for 22 and 40 runs respectively.
