Rani Mukerji is one of the most iconic actresses in Indian cinema. For three decades, she has won the hearts of fans on the big screen, sometimes as a romantic heroine, and sometimes as a protester.

Rani is recently celebrating 30 years of her career by announcing the third installment of the blockbuster ‘Mardaani’ franchise.

On this special occasion, she wrote an emotional open letter to her fans on social media, where the actress shared the behind-the-scenes story of her long journey.

Rani wrote, “When I first stepped on the set of a film 30 years ago, I didn’t have any big plans.

I didn’t even dream of becoming an actress. Today, it feels like cinema has found me on its own.”

Mentioning that she came into the industry by chance, she added that she was quite hesitant and timid in initial days. Rani said, “That nervous girl is still alive inside me.

The girl who stood in front of the camera for the first time and thought, ‘Will she forget the dialogue? Is she even worthy of this job?’” Rani also spoke about the connection between her experience of becoming a ‘mother’ and her career during this long journey.

She won a National Award for playing the role of a mother at the beginning of her career. She said, “I believe in signals.

When I received this special award after becoming a mother, I realised how far a mother can go for her child.”
