189 BD return from Dubai on spl flight

Staff Reporter :

A total of 189 Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Dubai amid flight suspensions linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict returned home on Thursday morning on a special flight operated by US-Bangla Airlines.

The aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, bringing relief to passengers who had been stranded in the UAE’s commercial hub after escalating regional tensions disrupted air travel across parts of the Middle East.

In response to the crisis, US-Bangla Airlines arranged two special flights on the Dhaka-Dubai-Dhaka route to assist stranded Bangladeshi nationals seeking to return home.

US-Bangla Airlines issued a press release by the airline, the first special flight departed Dhaka at 7:20 pm on Wednesday and arrived in Dubai later that night.

The return flight left Dubai at 12:20 am local time and brought the stranded passengers back to Dhaka early Thursday morning.

A second special flight is scheduled to depart Dhaka at 5:15 pm on Thursday, with the return service expected to leave Dubai at 10:00 pm local time.

The initiative comes as aviation disruptions across the Middle East have left many travellers stranded, including a significant number of Bangladeshi migrant workers and visitors.

Authorities at Dubai Airports – the operator of Dubai’s international aviation facilities – granted special permission to several airlines, including Emirates, Air India, and US-Bangla Airlines, to operate limited emergency flights to assist affected passengers.

Priority has been given to travellers whose visas have already expired or are close to expiry, officials said, as many faced legal and logistical complications due to the prolonged travel disruption.

The special flights are part of broader efforts by airlines and authorities to support overseas Bangladeshis amid the continuing uncertainty in regional air travel caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
