‘Banglar Pragati’ to join BSC’s fleet

The new ship ‘MB Banglar Pragati’ is being added to the fleet with the state-owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC)’s own funding. The 199-meter-long, 33-meter-wide, 18-meter-deep ship is capable of transporting 65,000 tons of goods. The ship’s main engine is MAN-B&W (built under German license, assembled in China). The pump is from Spain and the compressor is from Norway.
The ship has already undergone a trial run in China. Soon, the ship will load goods and fly the red-green flag from port to port around the world. The ship’s daily fare of $20,000 has also been confirmed after joining the fleet. BSC General Manager (Cargo Supervision and Operation) Captain Jamal Hossain Talukder confirmed the matter. He said that the ship has been taken over by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) from Hellenic Dry Bulk Ventures LLC in London on paper.
The delivery and acceptance protocol has been duly signed by both parties. On Thursday , Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) will take formal delivery of the MV Banglar Pragati ship from the Chinese Xingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Company Limited in China. In 2018 and 2019, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation bought six ships, three each, with financial assistance from the Chinese government for Tk 1,843 crore. For the first time, this time it is buying two ships for Tk 935 crore with its own financing.
Out of these,’MB Banglar Pragati’ has been added to the fleet.MB Banglar Nabjatra is scheduled to be added to the fleet in the first week of December. BSC plans to earn Tk 200 crore annually from these two ships.
