Human chain held in Sylhet to protest attacks on 2 journalists of Now TV

A human chain has been held in Sylhet demanding the arrest and trial of those involved in the attacks on Now TV’s Chittagong Bureau Chief Hossain Ziyad and cameraperson Parvez.
The Electronic Media Journalists Association (EMJA), Sylhet, organized the human chain in the city for an hour from 11 am to 12 noon on Tuesday (October 7).
Sylhet Press Club President Ikramul Kabir, former EMJA President Sangram Singha, former Sylhet Press Club President Iqbal Siddiqui, Sylhet Metropolitan Journalists Union Badruddoza Badar, Sylhet Press Club General Secretary Sirajul Islam, District Press Club General Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin, former president of TV Camera Journalists Association Digen Singha, treasurer of Sylhet Press Club Anis Rahman, member secretary of Multimedia Journalists Association, Sylhet, HM Shahidul Islam, among others also spoke the human chain .
The journalists said that such an attack while performing professional duties is a shameful incident. Attacks on journalists are not a new incident in the country. Such incidents have happened in the past and are ongoing at present.
But if the government had considered these incidents seriously, the miscreants would never have dared to attack any professional journalist. The speakers also said that the disorderly people of the society are committing these misdeeds by publishing news highlighting all the irregularities happening in the country and society.
It is the job of the state to suppress them with a strong hand. The journalist leaders called for arresting all those involved in the incident as soon as possible and bringing them under the law to ensure justice.

It is worth mentioning that last Sunday, Hossain Ziyad, the head of the Chittagong bureau of the television, and cameraperson Md. Parvez, were attacked by miscreants while collecting news in the jungle of Salimpur in Sitakunda, Chittagong.
