A devastating fire broke out at an edible oil factory in Rupganj, Narayanganj. The blaze
destroyed most of the factory’s machinery and a large stock of raw materials, though no
casualties were reported. Firefighters from three stations, with five units, managed to bring the fire under control after an hour of effort. The incident occurred on Wednesday (September 24) at the Murapara area, inside Globe Edible Oil Limited, a concern of the Abul Khair Group. According to locals and eyewitnesses, the fire started around 11:45 a.m. in the seed-crushing section of the factory, where soybean oil is processed. Within moments, the flames spread throughout the facility, engulfing it in heavy smoke and roaring fire. The intensity of the blaze caused panic among workers, who rushed to safety.
Fire service units from Kanchan, Demra, and Sonargaon stations arrived quickly and worked for about an hour to douse the flames, finally bringing the fire under control around 1:00 p.m. By then, however, most of the machinery and a significant amount of raw materials had already been destroyed, according to the factory’s administrative officer.

“The fire broke out in the seed-crushing section of the soybean oil processing line. Most of the machinery, raw materials, furniture, and various goods were burned, causing heavy damage.
