BGMEA’s emergency humanitarian help for Afghan

Staff Reporter :

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has extended a hand of solidarity to the people of Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan on September 1, 2025, creating a severe humanitarian crisis.

As part of this initiative, BGMEA has contributed 2,000 pieces of clothing to the affected communities.

According to official reports, the disaster has already claimed over 1,400 lives, left more than 3,000 injured, and destroyed upwards of 8,000 homes. The region is now facing a dire shortage of food, safe water, shelter, and urgent medical care, BGMEA said in a press release.

In line with the directives of the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh, emergency relief is being dispatched to Afghanistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating the operation, while the Bangladesh Air Force will carry food, clothing, and medical supplies on a special relief flight. BGMEA is proud to be part of this mission as a reflection of its humanitarian responsibility.
On September 4, 2025, at the BGMEA Complex, the Association’s Acting Secretary, Major (Retd) Md Saiful Islam, formally handed over the donated clothing to Lieutenant Commander Fariduzzaman Khan, GSO-2 (Navy), Joint Operations, Armed Forces Division, Chief Adviser’s Office. He was joined by BGMEA’s Senior Additional Secretary (Crisis Management), Monsur Khaled, along with senior officials.
BGMEA firmly believes this contribution will serve as a symbol of solidarity with the Afghan people. At such a critical moment, the support of the international community remains vital to easing the suffering of the victims.
