TRAFFIC RULES VIOLATION: 292 cases filed, Tk 17.67 lakh fine imposed

Dhaka has been experiencing severe traffic congestion for the past few days. In response, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ramped up efforts to restore order on the roads, targeting traffic rule violators through a large-scale operation.

On Tuesday, the DMP filed 292 cases and imposed fines totaling Tk 17.67 lakh for various traffic law violations, as confirmed by Obaidur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department. He reported that traffic police have been working relentlessly to bring back normalcy to the city’s roads.

In addition to the fines, 39 vehicles were impounded, and 15 vehicles were towed as part of the operation. An immediate fine of Tk 6.09 lakh was collected from violators.

The DMP has stated that the campaign will continue, with the aim of restoring order and ensuring safer roads in Dhaka.
