Wildlife protection activists have demanded the protection of wildlife rights and the removal of Chattogram Forest Conservator Molla Rezaul Karim, along with five other over allegations of their misdeeds on the issue.

A N M Moazzem Hossain, Chairman of the environmental organization ‘Save the Nature of Bangladesh,’ read out a written statement outlining the six-point demands to protect wildlife and stop their killing at Chattogram Press Club on Wednesday.

The environment protection advocate said in the interest of biosecurity, zoos established across the country in violation of wildlife conservation and safety laws should be shut down-yet the Chattogram zoo remains operational.

Therefore, all wild animals in that zoo should be rescued immediately. He also called for an investigation and justice regarding various irregularities during the previous government under the guise of wildlife conservation projects, as well as justice for the indiscriminate killing of elephants and other wild animals.

At the press conference, a demand was made for the immediate removal of Chattogram Forest Conservator Molla Rezaul Karim for his alleged involvement in transfer-related trading, looting, corruption, and scandalous activities involving women. Additionally, a call was made to amend Section 18 of the Animal Welfare Act.

Present at the event were the organization’s General Secretary Md. Saiful Islam, Lion Halima Chowdhury, Shariful Islam Jewel, Nurul Islam Nuru, Md. Alauddin, and many others.

The six demands raised at the press conference are as follows:
Immediate removal of the controversial Chattogram Forest Conservator Molla Rezaul Karim, who is allegedly involved in transfer trading, looting, corruption, and scandals involving women.

Disclosure of post-mortem and forensic reports of over a hundred elephants killed in the last decade in Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Rangamati, Bandarban, and Sherpur, allegedly with the direct or indirect support of Molla Rezaul Karim, Tapan Kumar Dey, and Yasin Newaz-along with the latest updates on all related cases.

Ensuring safe sanctuaries for elephants and all other wildlife, including their migration corridors.
Cancellation of the land allotment given to KEPZ, which violated land, forest, environment, industry, and wildlife conservation laws.

Investigation into the looting under the guise of arbitrary development that violated the master plan of the Dulhazara Safari Park. Public disclosure of post-mortem and forensic reports of all wild animals that died in the safari park and recovery of all stolen wildlife, along with exemplary punishment for those involved in the crimes.
