Some students blocked the Science Lab intersection of the capital on Monday demanding the postponement of this year’s Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, which is scheduled to begin from August 17, for two months.
The students said that many of them could not participate in class and examination due to the dengue situation.
Besides, many of us infected with dengue. So, we demanded to postpone the examination for two months.
Earlier on this morning, the students took position at Shahabagh and later they brought out a precession to Science Lab intersection and blocked the intersection.
After some time, the students also went to Neelkhet intersection, took a stand to press their demands.
They returned to Science Lab intersection in the afternoon. Traffic movement was halted on this road during the protest.
After come back from Science lab, the students tried to block Shahabagh intersection around 4:15 pm. Police however asked to leave the road but they denied it. While the police detained five to six of them.
Witnesses said, agitating students wanted to block Shahbagh intersection at about 4.15pm.
Police barred them and asked not to block the intersection. They detained few students when denied to it.
Shahabagh Police Station Inspector Shah Alam told to the media that they removed the students when they attempted to block road. Some agitating students have been detained and taken to the police station.
The students claimed that they are getting less time. It is not possible to sit in the examination of the entire syllabus at this time.
They said that our examination should be taken to 50 marks after reducing syllabus or the examination should be delayed by two months.
They also demanded not to take the ICT exam.
