FIFA friendly: Bangladesh suffer 0-5 defeat against Maldives
UNB, Dhaka :Bangladesh National Football team suffered a frustrating 0-5 goals defeat against hosts Maldives in a FIFA international friendly in Male on Thursday night.Bangladesh team played the FIFA friendly match against the Maldives as part of their preparation for the two-match AFC Asian Cup 2019 (Play off-2) Qualifiers against Bhutan, but the results certainly shattered their morality.Touring Bangladesh will return home on Saturday ahead of their home match against Bhutan in Dhaka on September 6 while the away match will be held in Thimphu on October 10.Without two key players-Mamunul Islam and Jamal Bhuiyan-in the FIFA friendly on Thursday, Bangladesh forced the home team to play goalless draw in the first half, but the Maldives destroyed the tourist defence line completely in the 2nd half to score five goals featuring a hat-trick by Asadulla.Asadulla opened the floodgate for the Maldives in the 53rd minute by a light push from goalmouth utilising a right wing cross from Ahmed Abdulla (1-0).Asadulla doubled the margin for the Maldives in the 60th minute by accurate shot off a left wing cross of Ashfaq (2-0).Hamza scored the 3rd goal for the Maldives in the 78th minute by a nice shot beating Bangladesh defender, capitalising on an Ashfaq pass (3-0).Asadulla completed the hat-trick in the 81st minute giving no chance to Bangladesh custodian off an Abdulla cross (4-0).Easa sealed the fate of the match in the stoppage of the match off a ready made pass of Hamza (5-0).
