Women can pray alongside men at BRUR mosque: VC

Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said arrangements will be made at the university’s central mosque for women to offer prayers along with men.
“In the future, the central mosque of the university will be expanded to the third floor and separate arrangements for women, including female students, to offer prayers along with men will be ensured,” he said.
The VC said this while inaugurating the newly-constructed second floor of the university’s central mosque by cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque in a simple function as the chief guest recently, says a press release.
In addition to the facilities for worshippers to offer prayers on the newly-built second floor of the central mosque, there are arrangements for a library and offices of the Khatib and muezzin.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Showkat Ali said that with the expansion of the central mosque, all worshippers including students of the university will be able to offer prayers comfortably on a large scale.
During the inauguration, the university’s Registrar Dr Md Harun-or Rashid, Director of the Office of the Students Affairs Prof Dr Md Ilias Pramanik,
Proctor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, and other officers and employees of various departments were present, among others.
