Recently, actress Dilruba Hossain Doyel complained against director N Rashed Chowdhury for not paying the remuneration in a TV programme.
Even though the movie ‘Chandrabati Kotha’ was released in 2021, the actress still owes a lot of money to the crew.
Rashed Chowdhury, the director of the movie, was surprised by such allegations of the actress.
While talking in this regard, director Rashed Chowdhury told this correspondent, “The truth is very sad and painful. I have contact with Doyel. Doyel never informed me of the dues. Sometimes it takes some time to clear the entire payment, but that’s why it’s not right to think like this. I was surprised to hear her opinion.”
Director Rashed Chowdhury also said, “It has been six years since I finished the movie ‘Chandrabati Kotha’. Bengal Creations has taken the full production rights of this movie. The issue of remuneration is seen by the production company. Doyel herself took payment from Bengal’s office once. None of the crew or cast of the movie has called or texted me to tell me that they still owe their dues. After the release of the movie, we participated in many events together. No one told me such information then. I would have talked to the production company about this if someone told me.”
If someone associated with the movie has received money, then the director said to pay it.
Rashed Chowdhury concluded, “If there is any money owed by someone else who won the contract, I will try to pay it myself. Those who know me at least know that I try to be honest in any movie. However, I apologise sincerely if any mistakes have been made unintentionally.”
Director Rashed Chowdhury has sent the cost file of ‘Chandrabati Kotha’ movie. According to that document of 2018, actress Dilruba Hossain Doyel owes Tk10,000 for this movie.
A few other artistes are owed part of their remunerations.
