Entertainment Report :
The Film Censor Board was abolished and the Film Certification Board was formed on September 22. The activities of the Film Certification Board have
started on September 29.
On the first day, the board members watched two movies – ‘Bhoyal’ and ‘Rajkumari’. This was confirmed by director and producer Rafiqul Anwar Russell, member of the Certification Board.
While talking in this regard, Rafiqul Anwar Russell told this correspondent, “From today the members of the board started watching movies. Since the rating policy has not come in the form of rules, it is a bit difficult to work out. Even though the name of the board has changed, the rules remain the same. As a result, we have to think about many things anew. For now, we are looking at the cinema hall so that the films can be released regularly.”
In response to the question of how the movie license will be given, Russell said, “We will work according to the rules of 77 and 85 in the design of the certification of 2023. The Rule 77 has two options. Displayable, or not displayable; that’s how the previous Censor Board worked. Now since I can’t give any rating based on age, we will try to leave the movies in universal category. By informing the Ministry of Information, arrangements will be made to make our regulations quickly. The 1963 Act had some loopholes; the 2023 Act also has several obstacles. All in all many types of reforms are needed. We are also talking about this.”
“I am reading the rules of the certification board. Rules should be formulated in such a way that the development of free films is not disrupted,” he added.
