Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain wants to take health services to the doorsteps of citizens by reorganizing the health department of Chattagram City Corporation (CCC). On Tuesday (31 Dec), the Mayor inaugurated a program of free eye treatment, cataract surgery, medicine and glasses distribution under the initiative of Allama Abul Khair Foundation at Char Chaktai Math premises in Ward No. 19. As part of this program, more than 500 patients underwent free eye examinations and more than 100 patients were selected for free cataract surgery.
The event was moderated by Sanaul Kader Sani and chaired by Muhammad Suhail Saleh. The main speakers were former general secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chattagram Metropolitan City, Abul Hashem Bakkar, former councilors Yasin Chowdhury Ashu, Md. Faisal, Eyakub Chowdhury Nazim, Yunus Chowdhury Hakim, Rezia Sulatana
Local leaders were present. In his speech as the chief guest at the event, the mayor said, I want to bring health services to the doorstep of the citizens by organizing the health department of Chattagram City Corporation (CCC). We are providing various vaccines free of cost from the City Corporation. Besides, we are also providing dengue detection and treatment free of cost. I am hopeful that Allama Abul Khair Foundation will join hands with us to implement these works more effectively.
I will request Allama Abul Khair Foundation, if they provide some services in each ward of our City Corporation; we will jointly run these services. If they work to protect the fundamental rights of the people, it will be beneficial for everyone. There are many rich people in Chattagram, but they do not come forward much in the development work of the common people. I call on the foundation to participate with us in important initiatives like healthcare. We are making people aware of cleanliness and are carrying out mosquito control work. We are monitoring the cleanliness of the drains and rivers in the areas and not throwing garbage. With everyone’s cooperation, we want to make Chittagong a beautiful and livable city.
