Burial of Jahangir Alam, a Bangladeshi soldier killed in a terrorist drone attack on a UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan, has been completed.

The funeral of Jahangir Alam, a Bangladeshi soldier killed in a terrorist drone attack on a UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan, has been completed. He was buried in his village Tarakandi in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday evening.

Earlier at 4:30 pm, Jahangir Alam’s body was brought to Pakundia Pilot High School grounds by a Bangladesh Army helicopter.

Then it was taken by road to his village home, Tarakandi. At this time, relatives broke down in tears. Along with offering wreaths, the army also gave him state honors. Later, after the funeral, the last farewell was given through burial.

Jahangir Alam joined the army as a soldier in October 2014. He went to Abyei, Sudan on November 7 this year to serve in a peacekeeping mission. He is the son of Hazrat Ali of Tarakandi village. Jahangir was the eldest of three brothers.

His elder brother Md. Mustafa is an expatriate and his younger brother Md. Shahin Mia works in agriculture. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, wife Rubaiya Akhter and three-year-old only son Irfan. among many others.

Jahangir’s father Md. Hazrat Ali said that his other son should be given a job in the army, otherwise they will have to struggle to run their family.
