The rail communication of Dhaka with other parts of the country has resumed as the students of Government Titumir College withdrew their blockade from Mohakhali rail tracks in the capital after four hours.

Dhaka Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joynul Abedin said the rail communication with Dhaka resumed around 4:20pm.

Banani Police Station Officer-In-Charge Russel Sarwar said the students withdrew their rail and road blockade following an assurance from the authorities concerned.

Earlier, several people including children were injured in an attack on a train when the students of Titumir College blocked rail tracks at Mohakhali in the capital on Monday demanding their college to be transformed into a university.

Railway OC Joynul said four Dhaka-bound trains and another train that was set to leave Dhaka remained stranded since the students put up barricades on the rail tracks in the morning.

He said Kamalapur-bound Parabat Express train came under attack in Mohakhali around 11:30am, leaving some people including children injured.

He, however, could provide the exact number of the injured.

The students also attacked the Dhaka-bound Upakul Express train coming from Noakhali, leaving some window glasses of the train damaged, he said.
