Staff Reporter :

Disappointed with the outcome of recent discussions, hundreds of students from polytechnic institutes across the country have declared that their movement will continue.

They issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to accept their six-point demand, warning of a long march to Dhaka if no action is taken.

The announcement came at a district-based gathering outside the Women’s Polytechnic Institute in Agargaon, Dhaka, around 12:00 pm on Sunday. Mizanur Rahman, a representative of the Polytechnic Students’ Movement, said, “If there is no official announcement accepting our demands within 48 hours, students from all polytechnic institutes will march to Dhaka.”

Another student leader, Habibur Rahman, added, “We reject all discussions held in air-conditioned rooms. If our demands remain unmet, we will enforce a stricter program. We will only return to class when the discrimination in the technical education sector is removed. We no longer believe in verbal assurances.”

The students’ six-point demand includes reforms in curriculum, fair evaluation, job quota implementation, and an end to perceived discrimination against technical education graduates.

The movement, which has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, reflects growing frustration among students over long-standing grievances in the technical education sector.
