Barrister Moinul Hossain was an honest, courageous, and patriotic person. He was a student of my husband.
Our relationship with him was also familiar. From the very beginning of Bangladesh, he worked for democracy. His death is a great loss for the democracy-loving people of the country.
The people of this nation will no longer hear the truth from him. I am deeply saddened by his passing. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family. May they find the strength to overcome this grief?
He was a worthy successor of his father in the struggle for democracy. He never bowed his head to injustice. Until the last day of his life, he continued to speak in favor of democracy.
He fought against one-party rule in the name of BAKSAL. When vested interests chased him for his firm stance, he sought refuge with Bangabandhu, and Bangabandhu restrained them.
He always spoke out against autocracy. In the final years of his life, he was imprisoned for a very trivial reason.
I was deeply pained to see how two editors of leading national dailies took to the field to humiliate such a respected man. Burdened by age and sorrow, he became silent. And in this state he left the world.
He could have lived a more luxurious life by taking government favors if he had wished. But instead, he left behind an ideal for us to follow. The contributions of Moinul Hossain will remain part of history.
