Sunlight illuminates the whole world. The diversity of the world is visible in front of us. Thus, the knowledge gained from education enlightens our minds and lives. After birth, a child’s first lessons in education began in his family. But after that, the great responsibility of teaching him was entrusted to the teacher.
The teacher builds up his students with his own acquired education, knowledge, and experience. He spread all his knowledge among the students. Through giving and receiving this education, an unbreakable bond of relationship is formed between the teacher and the students. In front of the relationship, we all bow in respect and love.
Student-Teacher Relationship: The one who teaches is the teacher, the one who learns is the learner or student. So, there is a donor-receiver relationship between teacher and student.
But that giving and receiving is education and knowledge. To a student, his teacher is the person holding the highest seat of respect. Again, the teacher loves his students like children.
A teacher builds up his student with his knowledge and labor and establishes himself as a proud partner in that student’s enlightened life. Students also remember the teacher in every step, success and failure of their educational life and even personal life.
As the teacher makes the student successful, he also takes the responsibility for the student’s failure on his shoulders. So, the student-teacher relationship is a relationship of equal participation in success, sadness, or pride.
Nature of Student-Teacher Relationship: A very wonderful relationship is the relationship between student and teacher. This relationship is very smooth, sweet, spontaneous, and serious at the same time.
If necessary, the teacher imposes unimaginable strictness, and discipline on the student. Sometimes he loves like a friend, advises, encourages, and always stays by his side.
Students respect the teacher like an unbeliever, obey orders, and remember with respect. The relationship between a teacher and a student is like that of a guide and a traveler.
The teacher guides and guides the future. The student follows the path shown, obeying the instructions.
Through kindness, affection, affection, love, and discipline, a teacher sows the seeds of dreams in his students.
Students cherish that dream. So, the student-teacher relationship is that of the dreamer and the creator of the dream.
Importance of Student-Teacher Relationship: Teachers are man-builders. So, the better, beautiful, and friendly the teacher’s relationship with the students is, the better the teacher can make his students a better person. Students learn to know, recognize, and understand life by being in the presence of the teacher. Learn to see everything anew.
The teacher opens the student’s eyes to see and opens the door to knowledge. It leads them to the path of knowledge, the path of light. Based on the philosophy of life that the teacher inculcates in the students, they make their life vows. A good teacher can guide even a lost student on the right path, and turn his life around.
Relationship as it was: Back in the day the student teacher relationship was genuine. Students respected their teachers. They considered every command and instruction of the teacher as important. The teachers also loved the students like their own children.
The students followed the teacher’s instructions to the letter. Serving teachers was also part of their education. Teachers also sacrifice a lot to give proper education to their students.
The current context of the relationship: Artifice, personal interest, and profit calculation have now entered the student-teacher relationship. There was a time when students used to wash the teacher’s feet with their own hands. Today they assaulted the teacher with that hand.
Again, the hand that the teacher used to place on the student’s head with blessings, encouragement, and good wishes, they are whipping the tender student with that hand.
Students now want to use the teacher in hopes of getting better results. On the other hand, teachers use students as tools to make money. Where teaching used to be a great profession, it has now become a business. As a result, there is now a relationship of interest between the teacher and the student.
Reasons for deterioration of relationship: One of the main reasons for the extreme deterioration of teacher-student relationships is the deterioration of the social values of people.
A teacher forgets his values, abandons ethics, and uses students only to earn money. They are taking extra benefits from the students by holding them hostage.
Even students are victims of their brutality. The so-called man-builder is forgetting his principles and giving students a shortcut to get a degree. There is no practice of ethics and values between teacher and student. Due to the teacher-student transactional relationship, crimes such as question leakage arise.
Expectation from the teacher: A teacher from his student expects that the teacher will give him life-relevant, up-to-date education. Show him the way to gain knowledge, and make him a traveler on the path of light.
The teacher will create in his students the desire to gain knowledge, to know the unknown, to see the unseen, and to know the known things anew, to guide the future. The teacher will teach them the view of good and bad, right and wrong. Above all, the teacher expects that he will develop his student as a good person, and a good citizen.
Conclusion: A good teacher can radically change a student’s life. You can give him a new birth. You can reach the door of possibilities and success.
So, the foundation of the student-teacher relationship needs to be strong and firm. A relationship built on love and respect should always remain strong. It is the moral responsibility of all to keep the sacred relationship of student-teacher intact.
