Whatever achievements of the present civilization those are being destroyed every moment by Israel’s brutality against innocent people in Palestine.

It is a matter of regret that no action is being taken by the powerful nations of the world against this visible demonism.

Along with countries around the world, Bangladesh also held on Monday nationwide protests, marches and class and exam boycotts to protest the Israeli aggression in the besieged Gaza Strip and show solidarity with the Palestinians.

According to a report published in this newspaper yesterday, protest swept across the country as people from all walks of life including students, teachers, political activists and religious groups took to the street in solidarity with their Palestinian brothers and sisters, condemning Israel’s onslaught in Gaza and calling it genocide.

Reportedly, from the capital to district towns, demonstrators formed human chairs, stage sit- in and held processions demanding international community to take steps to put an immediate end to the bloodshed in the besieged territory.

From early morning, the protesters took to the street in major cities and towns, including capital Dhaka, carrying Palestinian flags and placards condemning the Israeli occupation.

Different countries, including Bangladesh, and organizations around the world, from human rights organizations to those in power, are strongly condemning the attack on Gaza.

The government of Bangladesh reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people’s right to self determination and called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that the death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 reached 50,695. On Sunday alone, more than fifty Palestinians, including women and children, were killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza.

UNICEF has warned that at least 100 children are being killed every day since the renewed attacks began on March 18.

More than a million children in Gaza have been without life-saving aid for more than a month. The basic rights of the Palestinian people are being grossly violated.

One day the crimes committed by Israel, which deserves to be considered a despicable nation, will be written in the pages of history.

We hope that the world leaders will take effective steps to restore peace in Gaza through a united effort, not for the lust of power, but for the sake of humanity.
